UPDATE: The massive fire at Abilities Group in Wairau Valley is contained and under control. Thankyou to everyone who has helped in responding to this incident. Around 90 personnel with 36 fire appliances and support vehicles attended from across Auckland and from as far away as Hamilton.
Thankfully it seems that no-one has been hurt. But the building and equipment are destroyed, which will be devastating for the wonderful people at Abilities Group and a significant loss for the disabled community.
Thankyou to the team at Glenfield Baptist Church at 46 James Street which has been working with Auckland Emergency Management to help anyone affected by the blaze. They have been supporting several families this evening.
Please continue to stay away from the area. The smoke is toxic as there were lithium-ion batteries in the fire, so please stay inside and take care. If you are concerned for your health, please call 111 or head to hospital.
All the best everyone.
